Is Germany the Next Big Destination for International Students?

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is launching an initiative to recruit international students and graduates and qualify them as future specialists for the German labour market. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is supporting the new initiative with a total of almost 120 million euros until 2028. - DAAD.de

Germany ranks third globally for international students and doctoral candidates, with many choosing it for the career opportunities available after graduation.

Federal Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger emphasized the need for international talent in Germany to drive the country's growth and prosperity, highlighting the 'Campus Initiative for International Professionals' to support international students.

The FIT program under the initiative offers tailored support for international students at various stages of their educational journey, including preparatory courses, academic success programs, and integration into the workforce, with funding for up to 70 projects starting in spring 2024.

The Profi plus program focuses on helping international academics with foreign degrees adapt their qualifications to the German market through specialized training, job application coaching, and practical company experience, with significant funding available for up to 25 university projects.

DAAD's role includes providing academic support for the initiative through relevant studies and conferences, reinforcing the program's foundations and ensuring its alignment with the needs of international students and the German labor market.

Funding is planned for up to 25 university projects, with around 700,000 euros available per project until 2028.
